I got yet another well-meaning but totally pointless e-petition this morning (22nd Jun 2000) and it saddens me to see genuine concern going to waste. I had a look at existing e-petition sites and found that they offer no useful advice (i.e. don't do it!) as they are looking for advertising support (not that I'm cynical...). As such I thought it would be good to have an informative and impartial site that people could be referred to easily. It cost me $15 to buy this domain name for a year and the web site space is free so I don't need any sponsorship and can say exactly what I like. Which, by the way, is a reminder of how easy it is to set up an "authoritative" web site...
My "qualifications" for pontificating about this are that I know a bit about how campaigning organisations work (I am an active member of several) and have considerable experience of working with the Internet.
